Female Founder
Start date
11. October 2022
Deadline 11. October 2022
Event date
11.10.2022
18:00 - 20:00

Are you thinking about founding your own company? Do you want to meet inspiring female founders? Are you curious about how it is to be a female founder in a male-dominated industry? Then join our Female Founders Event – free of charge!

Why?

Of all company founders in Switzerland, only approximately 20% are female and the percentage for science- and tech-based startups is even lower. We want to show aspiring female founders that there are many inspiring female role models out there.

Who can participate?

Women interested in entrepreneurship and women empowerment who are considering starting their own business; especially motivated and ambitious members of a Swiss university or University of Applied Sciences (students, doctoral students, postdocs, professors etc.).

Where?

This event takes place at ETH Student Project House (SPH).

ETH Student Project House (SPH) was built with a singular vision – to be a dynamic melting pot that empowers the next generation of makers and innovators. We provide students with a pressure-free environment that triggers inspiration, discussion, and hands-on (and often messy) exploration, so that they can foster a mindset geared to create, innovate and lead impactful change. Learn more about SPH here: https://sph.ethz.ch/

ETH Zentrum, Clausiusstrasse 16, 8006 Zurich

This event is organized together with ETH Zurich and Impact Hub Zurich.

Fireside Chat Speaker
Martina Waser

Martina is the Founder and CEO of Shavejack. It all started because she stole her husband’s razor and realised that the blades are sharper, last longer and are free of pink tax. Beside the development of plant-based shaving products, they are developing a zero waste shaver as 2 billion razors get tossed out in the U.S. only each year.

She was a managing director of a digital agency in Zurich, worked as a consultant for 10+ years and studied part time at the HWZ, before she quit her job and founded Shavejack. In her opinion there are way too few female entrepreneurs in the Swiss startup ecosystem. Each Shavejane product sold, will therefore support another female founder in the early stage. As a founder and mother of two, she wants to encourage other women to start their own business.

Fireside Chat Speaker
Mathilde Dupin

Mathilde is the co-founder and Head of Business at SURI BioTech. SURI BioTech is a biotech startup, which develops health promoting bacterial strains with clear mechanism of action to improve people’s well-being and quality of life. The first application targets the alleviation of infant colic.

Mathilde teamed up with her co-founder and CEO, Vanesa Rocha Martin, to bring in her business experience to the founding team. After her management studies at ESSEC Business School in Paris, Mathilde moved to Zurich and worked in financial consulting and corporate M&A. Being part of a female founder team, Mathilde strives to encourage other women to consider an entrepreneurial career.
