When you mix 100 sets of earphones with 21 fresh ideas and add 9 organizations of the startup ecosystem – you have a recipe for an interesting evening. On 2 December 2015, 100 young entrepreneurs and representatives of the Swiss startup ecosystem met at the faculty center of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETHZ).
The evening started with a pitch by Philippe Geiger, the CMO of EntoLog. After winning the ZHAW Startup Challenge in May 2015, EntoLog went on to win the audience award at the Global Student Entrepreneurship Challenge in Blacksburg, Virginia; in addition, it has been nominated as a finalist for the Swiss Innovation Forum 2015.
For more than 12 weeks, aspiring young entrepreneurs at ETHZ, the University of Zurich, and the University of St. Gallen worked hard to hone their business models. Posters illustrating the results were exhibited at the ETHZ faculty center and have also been collected in a booklet.
Participants from the startup ecosystem presenting their products and services included startup incubators and organizations offering continuing education programs or financing options. The event was like a silent rave with the sound coming from headphones rather than loudspeakers. Instead of music, there were live presentations by speakers. Audience members had a choice: They could listen to the program, or continue socializing and networking.

Optinion & voices:
“As many animated discussions take place throughout the whole event the solution with the headphones is a very good solution. Who ever wants to listen to the speakers can easily do that.”
Dr. Berhard Hostettler, IP Experte and STARTUP CAMPUS Trainer
“It was interesting to talk to other CTI Module 2 participants from the same field of interest.”
Jvo Siegrist, Business Concept Participant
“The idea with the headphones was great. You should do that again.”
